Nexxice Senior Team Invited to Skate in Mexico
An extravaganza ice show was held to open one of the largest
outdoor ice surfaces in the world, November 27-30, 2008. Many
thanks to the Nexxice Team Captains: Jen Beauchamp, Morgan Harper
and Danyel Dykstra for sharing their experiences and photos with
us!
" Mexico City was an amazing experience and one that
each of us will carry with us for a lifetime. We were very honoured
to be given the opportunity to represent and promote the sport
of synchronized skating. We were very well received by everyone
at the event and were given copious amounts of attention, press
coverage and asked to have numerous photographs taken. The experience
of skating in Mexico City really opened our eyes to the life
of a professional skater. We skated long hours, learned new
chorography at a quick pace and worked in close proximity with
many talented people from the Spotlight Production Company.
Zocalo, the city center of Mexico was transformed in to a winter
wonderland with the outdoor ice surface being the focal point
of the event. The opportunity to skate on one of the largest
outdoor ice surfaces in the world was an incredible experience
to say the least. The night of the show was filled with excitement
as we were escorted to and from the rink by body guards. The
show went very well, with excellent performances by all that
participated. The brief time we spent in Mexico required a lot
of hard work and dedication to complete the tasks at hand, but
as a team we pulled together and got the job done. There are
few things that could beat skating in such a huge space, in
the heat of the day with the sun shining down on us! Nexxice
would like to graciously thank everyone who helped make this
trip a possibility and the advancement this opportunity provided
for our sport of synchronized skating."
